Ana Peralta writes the following about The Giver :

The Giver is a really good book. But the best part of this book is that when you finish reading a chapter you at least have one question without being answered but to me its the best part because you just have to read the next chapter. Well the story is about Jonas a 12 year old that lives in the 'perfect' community at least he thinks that. But when Jonas goes to his ceremony of 12 and receives the job of being a receiver. He receives training from The Giver which holds the true pleasure and pain of the life the giver gives the memories of the world that he is holding to Jonas, painful ones and happy ones. One day Jonas goes to the Giver that lives in an Annex room behind the house of old and receives his first day of training. Jonas's dad works as a nurtrer and his job is to take care of newborns and releasing twins. In this story releasing means 'killing' so Jonas's dad didn't want to hurt Jonas's feelings and didn't tell him. But with the help of the Giver Jonas figures out the truth about releasing. The family of Jonas has with them a child called Gabriel but when Jonas hears from his father that he's going to release Gabriel ,Jonas decides to run away with Gabriel with him. In his way Jonas stops for a second and transmitted happy memories to Gabriel. Since Gabriel and Jonas have pale eyes and so did the giver and the previous and previous receiver Jonas could easily transmit the memories to Gabriel. This book is ?A What If?? book so I highly recommend this book to any reader who enjoys reading award winning novels.
