Warddrick Wessinger writes the following about The Outsiders :
This book is about two gangs that have different customs. One of the gangs is called the Socs. The other is called the Greasers. The greasers had two of their members killed. One named Johnny died in a hospital, and the other named Dally died by getting shot by the police.

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is one of those books you can never put down. It tells how being in a gang is not a good idea. Johnny has two older brothers who take care of him. Johnny is very smart, but he wants to be in the gang with his brothers. His mother and father die in a car wreck.

I like this book, because it has lots of things that happen everyday in the world. Even more the book lets kids know being in a gang is not a good idea, because people in gangs will either go to jail or end up dead.
