Nicholas Frazier writes the following about The Giver :

The purpose of the story is that life is valuable. I agree with the author because a life should have a purpose in life. The climax of the story was the best part of the book. It thouroughly explains the plan of how Jonas escapes from the community. Jonas is the main character of this story and he is the chosen person to become a receiver. I would not want to build a society with this charactor since he couldn't make a decision. Since he went mad after a while finding out what release means. The author could have told us what happened to the characters after they exscaped. A person who enjoys sad stories with a little mystery might enjoy this book.
