Emily writes the following about The Giver :

The Giver is a book about a community that is suppost to be perfect but it isn' t. It's not perfect because they release someone who has one thing wrong with them or one thing that they might have done wrong. The main character is Jonas. Jonas was selected to be the Reciever Of Memory. The Reciever Of memo- ry is a person who recieves all of the memories from the past. My favorite part was when they had the ceremony. Jonas was becoming a 12, that's when you get your assignments. Assignments are like jobs. Jonas was the last to be called up the stage. When he went up there Chief Elder said,"you have been selected to be the Reciever Of Memory." I would recommend this book to someone because it was very interesting in some parts. Sometimes it was confusing. But over-all it was a good book.
