Andy Greenwell writes the following about The Giver :

I personally thought that THE GIVER was a very interesting book. Lois Lowry takes you through almost every part of Jonas's life, from being an Eleven to the unrecorded Thirteen. He learns to understand that though there are parts of life that sometimes just make things complicated, they're not such a bad thing to have around. Jonas's life is completely controlled by Sameness. There is no color, no music, no deep emotion; all the things that complicate life are erased. Your job is even chosen for you! All in all, THE GIVER is a wonderful novel and a book that will keep you wondering until the very end.
