writes the following about They Never Came Home :
They Never Came Home: The book THEY NEVER CAME HOME was a very well written interesting mystery. It was not a scary novel, but it was a question type one, where you ask questions of why and how. I really got into this mystery. One very strong element in the story were the characters. This element was a very strong way of pulling you into the story. The characters were described very well in detail and they all had very different personalities. Lois Duncan also had great dialouge in the story and had the characters interact in many different places at many different times. The strongest literary element in the story was point of view. Lois Duncan had a very interesting way of using point of view. One second she would be showing the feelings of one character and what is happening to them and then all of a sudden she would switch to another character. It made the story very interesting to here so many point of views and so many different aspects of a story. Point of view really spiced up the story for the reader. Another very strong element in the story was plot. For about half the book you thought that the main characters were dead, but later you find out that they are alive and working. The end turns out to be a surprise ending. There was no foreshadowing, but that made the story even more interesting because you were so surprised when you find out what actually happens. The plot was avery effective and surprising element. This book shows you that everything in life doesn't seem what it is, and sometimes you can't trust the people you think you know well. It was a great book to read, and I would definatly recomend it to any mystery lover. al
