Ivy Sommer writes the following about The Giver :

The Giver is one the most unique and very strange books, but it is very good. The purpose of the book is to inform that when you have a perfect community then something has to go wrong at some point and that is what Lois is trying to tell you. The Giver has a very good struture of writing and everything else, but most of all the setting was the best because it sets in a perfect community and the way Lois Lowry explains it, you could almost feel that you were actually there. The main character is a twelve year old boy whose name is Jonas. I was thinking would he be a good person to create a society? I think so because he knows what bad things can go wrong in a perfect community. Since the book is very good there is little things to change about it,but if I could I would change the ending because it really doesn't make sense to me, but that is all I'm going to tell you about the ending. If you want the world to be be perfect and have nothing bad happen to you then this is the book for you to read. So it was a very different book, but it will keep you intrested through the whole book. So read the The Giver today.
