Michael C writes the following about ENCOUNTER :
In the book Encounter by Jane Yolen. The characters in this book are villagers also Europeans explore. The plot of the story is, a villager has a dream that shows that the Europeans were parrots from the sky because they were different. The setting is Oct12, 1492, and it was at San Salvador. The message, from a villager?s point of view. The Europeans weren?t good because they heart the villagers and took them away. Te comparison that I had about the book, One time ago I read a bio called Sacagawea it tells the same moral of the story. That the Europeans came and heart them. Also when the villagers came they took the villagers away. My rating was a 6. My suggestions: I think that the book should have been longer. And tell more about the boys dreams, also maybe more about his people and the Europeans for example if they were mean compared to his people. Where they tall, where their clothes way different compared to tribe people clothes, also about their life style like if they had the same rules as villagers people and or what were they rules that they had that you didn?t have. My comments: I liked this book considering that it kind of lost my interest, when the boy told a little about his dream. Also the thing that I liked about the story is that if you didn?t get the content, you could look at the picture and see what was happening at that setting.
