football101 writes the following about Hatchet :

Brian Robison is a 13 yar old boy and his parents just got divorced. Brian is in a plane with a pilot. He was on the way to his dads house to do some farming for a while.This is a good book for people who like lots of adventure. After a while when Brian is in the plane, the pilot started having a heart attack. Minutes later the pilot died and Brian didnt know what to do. The plane crashed but Brian did survive. He is know alone.Will he survive? I would rate this book a 9 because it gives lots of detail and it has good word choice. The thing i would change about this book is to give the beginning a better start and give more detail about Brian. I would recommend this book for people that are 10 years or older because the word choice is good and pretty easy to read.
