Have you ever had to leave the country to see just your dad? Sounds sad well Brian, has to because of his parents divorce,”bye mom” that was the last thing he said before he got on the plane to see his dad in Canada. Although he didn’t expected to have things turn upside down, the way it did in the story. Brian couldn’t take it anymore, seeing pilot having the heart attack scared him more and more every day. Now he was stranded in the middle of the Canadian woods by himself. No food no water, and no protection. Will Brian be able to survive the Canadian woods, or will nature take his life? The genre is realistic fiction.
I recommend this book because it’s thrilling. One way it’s thrilling is it gives a ton of detail on how he used the wonderful world of nature to his advantage, mostly how he used it to survive. It also tells how Brian was able to control the plane and didn’t kill himself. Another reason is its very emotional. It’s emotional because the way the author writes it not only explains the emotions through Brian it shares them with the reader. I would recommend this book to 4th graders and up. This book will keep people wanting more, so look out for the sequels, Brian’s winter, The River, Brian’s Return, and Brian’s Hunt.
