Kennedy C. Harpster writes the following about The Giver :

After I read this book, I didn't really like it because it is so fiction it doesnt really make much sense. The Giver by Lois Lowry is a book about a community that has no color. The only people who see color is the Recevier and the Giver. every December there is a ceromony, where every child moves up to the next level and at the cermony of 12 they have their jobs chosen at cermony 8 the child gets their first bike, Jonas moved up to a 12. At that cermony Jonas was chosen to be the next recevier. Later on there was twins born, and the runt, went home with Jonas dad to be taken care of till the cermony of release. When it came time for the naming cermony Jonas took Gabriel, the runt of the twins, run away with the help of the Giver. The two boys are out of food, water, and are cold..... To find out what happens next you got to read this book....
