Ashley Stacy writes the following about The Giver :

The Giver by Lois Lowry is sorta good but it is wierd beause it is not real at all. No one can pick your job and make you do stuff you dont want to do. Also in the book it says that no one can see color expet the Giver and the Reciver. So I dont ruin the book for you I wont give you detial. When you read this you will notice that the communitee is very controled and it sounds boring. Like i said you could not see colors. Your parents dont get to have their own kids or pick thier jobs or pick their spouse. So when you are ready to get married yo file for marrage. Then you can file for a child. You are only aloud to have one boy and one girl and you dont get to name your child or pick who they are they are just gave to you during a ceremony. It is a good book if you like to read. If you are like me and the only books you can read are the ones you are either fourced to read or realy grabs your attention then you may not read this book.
