Paula Baird writes the following about The Giver :
If you are interested in fictional other world places, you may like the book The Giver. In Jonasís world everything is perfect. There is no pain or bad choices. Everyone is the same. UntilÖ, Jonas is selected to be the new receiver and learns what itís like to feel love and pain.
I think that the message of this book is not to try so hard to be perfect, because no one can be. I also think that this is true. I would want Jonas, the main character, to help me create a new society, because I also, like him, donít want sameness. The climax was very interesting, but expected. The book was short and fast-moving, so Iíd add more details. Overall, Iíd give The Giver 3 out of 4 stars.
