cotey atterson writes the following about The Giver :

In the book the giver there is a little boy that is waiting to get his special task. When he does get his special task he thinks that they skipped him but come to find out he just got the task of a reciver. The last time that there was going to be a new riciver was ten years ago and the girl ended up not being able to handle it so she filed for release. Release is when a person is sent off to another community for diffeent reasons. When the giver tells jonas that the little girl that was released was in fact related to the giver. When jonas takes gab a little kid that is staying in there house for a little while with him out of the community he relized that outside of the community where every thing is not so perfect and you just don't get food handed to him he relized that he might starve sone if he doesn't get to a new community. If you want to know what happens next you are going to just read the book and find out what happens to Jonas and gab
