Kurt writes the following about The Giver :
When I first looked at the cover I thought I was going to be bored out of my mind. But I was so wrong. This book suspensful and an overall great book. Though there were a few flaws such as the first two or three chapters. I thought I was going to fall asleep because nothing was happening. But as the story went along I started to get more and more interested in Jonas's life. He had a very interesting assignment. Which would be a fun job. As I read on I found out about release and Rosemary, and I was deeply saddened by it. When it got to the end of the book I was shocked. I never read a book that had a suprising ending like this. But I understood why Lois Lowry did it. And it is nice thats she did, because it gives you something to think about after you have finished the story. When I think of Lois Lowry's purpose for writing this story, I think it's because she wants to show us how our world can change from now until the future.
