Reif writes the following about How to speak dragonese :
Hiccup the Viking is learning how to board an enemy ship with his friend Fishlegs. But disaster strikes when their boat spins way off course. As they prepare to board a ship they found, they realize that a 70-foot long boat is definitely not a peaceable fishing boat. But I think Fishlegs had his own sense of joy as he and Hiccup boarded the boat only to find that it was a Roman boat, enemies of the Vikings. Hiccup and Fishlegs escape, but Hiccup’s beloved and disobedient dragon, Toothless, is left in a cage. When Hiccup and Fishlegs return to shore, two kidnappers take them hostage at sinister Roman Fort Sinister. I think this book is incredible because of its suspenseful plot and courageous characters. If you like dragons or Vikings, you’ll like this book. As a dangerous plot to turn the Vikings against each other unfolds, our heroes see little things do not measure courage. I would recommend this book because of its gripping plot like when they’re trying to escape from sinister Roman Fort Sinister. I also like this book because of the funny characters like Gobber the Belch who is always yelling. The Isle of Berk is a funny setting because it is always precipitating. This book is cool because of the courage of small things like the nanodragons.
