Kayla Minarcin writes the following about The Giver :
The one word that describes this book is Utopia. Jonas lives in a perfect world. I liked that it was very imaginative and creative. It's not another stupid fantasy book; it was actually interesting and entertaining. I didnít like "Release". It was really sad, and itís their way of life and donít know any better, but itís very sad. Especially when Jonas found out what it actually was, and what his father was doing to the new children and elderly. The Giver is the most interesting character and I liked him best. He was just sweet and nice. He was caring and really loved Jonas. Giver felt horrible when he had to give Jonas painful memories to relieve some of his pain. I learned that a utopia is pretty much impossible. That Lois Lowry is very creative. And that having no feelings at all is truly a sad thing. I would like to read a sequel to this book. The author leaves you with a cliff hanger and I would like to know what actually happened.
