JImmy D writes the following about The Giver :

The giver is a very diverse novel.It teaches us a lesson to respect others differences , so that society does not end up like Jonas's society. The perfect society has a cost of terrible things like euthenasia. The giver is very wise and gives his memories to Jonas which is interesting. Also Jonas begins to realize how terrible his community is. He saves baby Gabriel from being released or killed. They sneak out to find elsewere, JOnas loves Gabriel with passion. This is a eye opening novel and I recommend it to anyone.
