Olga Bolgaboo writes the following about The Giver :

The Giver was a superb book. It is about a boy named Jonas, who lives in a perfect town... or so he thinks. Jonas is soon turning twelve and is going to be given his job assignment. At the ceremony Jonas is selected to be THE RECIEVER. Which is a highly honored individual who recieves the memories that are not APROPRIATE for the town to know, such as war and pain and even love... Jonas learns many secrets and soon can not stand to live in the community any longer. He and the former reciever decide to escape. Will they make it? You have to find out yourself... it really was an excellent book, one of my favorites.
