maia herod writes the following about Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry :
This book s a very good book.It is a book about the struggles of the Logan family had during segragation time trying to keep 200 acres of land. they go through fighting meeting new people and fires. The Logan family is made up of Cassie,LittleMan,ChristopherJohn,Ma,BigMa,Papa.They all have their own struggle at school home at work and in their home town. They all have conflicts with the walleces Mama does not allow them to go to the wallace store.All the Loan kids get into trouble LittleMan likes to keep clean wich gets him into trouble sometimes.Cassie likes to mind other peoples buisness.Stacie likes to be his own person which sometimes gets him to trouble.Along the way the meet Mr morrison who comes to protect the Logan Family but they say that he is there to help them pick cotton but one night cassie sees the night men but they turn around because it was the wrong house (false alarm).The night men tar&feather people,burn people but they dont like it when people do something to them.If you lived during this time and you were black you will have to walk miles to school and the white kids have a bus and you walk to school and sometimes you have to jump the gulley when you see the bus driver who likes to cover youwith (red) murky water.You have to back off a bridge if you see a white man coming over the bridge and wait to they pass.If ou read this book you will get a taste of what it is like to live through segragation.I hope you like this book as much as i do.
