Mekhiya, Jujuan, Brandy writes the following about The Giver :
The Giver by Lois Lowry is about a boy named Jonas, who lived in a closed community where everybody was the same and are colored blind. Jonas and his mom, dad, and sister Lily live a happy life and everybody in the community has to listen to rules. Their career and family is chosen for them also. Jonas’s dad is a nurturer and brings home a troubling baby named Gabriel so he wont get taken out of the community. Every December, kids from the ages 1-12 go to a ceremony to pass up an age. The Elevens get assignments and when their 12, they get jobs. Jonas gets selected and not assigned. Read this book to find out what will happen to Jonas, Gabriel, and their community.
We rated this book an 8 because there are many questions that could be asked about this book and the author leaves you short at the end of the book. We would really recommend this book to anybody. It’s very different from the books we usually read and very interesting.
Some things we would do to change this book is tell what happened at the end of the story and make it more happier. Also we would answer more questions and make some problems because there aren’t any problems at all.
