Julian Goolian writes the following about Killing Mr. Griffin :
Killing Mr. Griffin
In Killing Mr. Griffin, the plot was very good and revolves around a teens emotions towards their teachers, but was not very well written at all. The best element Duncan used was her characterization. She describes each of her characters well and the mood is changed each time a new character comes into the conversation and gives their feelings on the situation. I think Duncan should have stuck to the central problem of the novel. Towards the end of the book Duncan tends to drift of about a minor detail instead of going deeper into what they are gonna do about their situation. Lois Duncan also skipped around the change of scenery quite often, making it hard to follow. For example, at one point she will be talking about an important subject and will leave you hanging by not telling you what happens to the person , and then on the next chapter she will begin to talk about another subject. Also, Duncan will go on for a whole chapter and open up with the next one, then Susan woke up. A change of view like that is good for a few paragraphs, but not for whole chapters. Lois Duncan does a great job on getting you into the story with the great plot and characterization, but begins to take away from that with her odd style of writing.
