I rate this book a 7.5 because I believe that when S.E. Hinton wrote about understanding and kindness can overcome prejudice this was where she had wrote the best. She wrote the best when she wrote about Randy backing out of the ble the day before. I believe that Randy backed out for one of two reasons. He either backed out because, he didn't want to die like Bob, or he was afraid that he would get hurt and have to be in the Hospital, away from his life too long. I rated The Outsiders a 7.5 because of the way that she wrote about understanding and kindness can overcome prejudice.
