This book shows that loyalty is a necessary quality in human relationships. In the book Ponyboy's gang is loyal to each other which helps them all feel like they have a home, at least with their friends. Johnny doesn't have much of a family, so he sometimes stays at Pony's and his brothers' house, so they are close. This helps when they have to fight; they help each other out, and when Dally helps Pony and Johnny get out of town when they are in trouble. This is a good book and worth reading. It tells about real life problems and how they handle them. It tells about problems the characters have, and it deals with life today. The book also keeps you guessing. You never know what's going to happen and it keeps you interested.
