The Outsiders,by S.E.Hinton,was a very intense book.It showed modern day relationships and how terrible our society is becoming. It showed that everyone needs to feel accepted.
Johnny, coming from a horrible family of neglet and abuse was changed. He was lonely and was unhappy. He then felt accepted by "the gang",they treated him like a little brother. This was so he wouldn't be hardened like the rest of them.Johnny is Dally's only thing he would let himself love.He was "gold" or himself.
Since Johnny and Dally felt they were accepted they had the will to live. This is what pushed them on from day to day.
S.E.Hinton showed this theme with amazing drama and reality. So much that after you read it you'll stop and think, what would the world be like if everyone was loved, and felt acepted?
