Billy Bob Joe Brown It writes the following about The Monuement :

When Rachel is moved out of an orphanage and into a drunken family, the town has an argument about what the town?s monument should be. They wanted to have a monument for the people who have died in the town. When they all decide one, the monument is not a regular looking. The Monument by Gary Paulsen, is not like all of those other Gary Paulsen books, It is more of a mystery than adventure. When Rachel moves to Bolton, Kansas, her new best friend is a dog named Python. He helps her meet a new friend, Mick, an artist, who encourages Rachel to draw. I gave this a 7.5 because it had some boring parts to it but when the book got good it was really good. This book should have more detail and action. It sounds like he's writing about a normal day life. For example, there was a paragraph telling about how she walked home. The cover puts everything in the book onto the cover. The picture made more sense when you were reading the book.
