dalton writes the following about Hatchet :

Do you like adventurous books? Well if you do I have the perfect book for you: Hatchet by Gary Paulson. This is one of the best adventurous books of our time. Hatchet is about a boy who lives with is mom after his parents get divorced. Brian?s mom is taking kim to a small airport out in the country, so he can fly out to the Canadain oil fields to see his dad. Before Briangets on the plane his mom gives him a hatchet. Brian puts the hatcheton his belt. then Brian meets the pilot, and they take off. Once on the plane is in the air, the pilot ask Brian if he wants to fly the plane. Brian says sure, so the piolt lets jim fly the plane. not long after the piolt teaches Brian to fly, he has a heart attack and dies. Brian has no choice but to fly the plane has long as he can, but there is a problem; he don?t know how to land the plane. After a couple hours, the fuel gets low, and Brian crashes the plane into a L shaped lake. Brian survives the crash with some bumps and bruises. Brian hasto survive with nothing but a hatchet and some things in his pocket. So, as you can see, it is somewhat sad, but it gets very exciting.If you are looking for a book that will put you on the edge of your seat read Hatchet by Gary Paulsen.
